Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms allowing Embryo Implantation Geneva, Switzerland Geneva University Hospitals ---- Monday, April 20, 2009 at 10:45 Concurrent Symposium Implantation Paul Bischof is a Swiss citizen presently "Professeur Titulaire" in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University of Geneva. He studied biochemistry at the University of Geneva, obtained his PhD in 1974, and was a Post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. He teaches at the universities of Geneva, Claude Bernard (Lyon, France) and Paris-VII (France) and is a member of several editorial boards and scientific societies and a former consultant with WHO. His past research interest were in placental protein and he was the first to characterise Pregnancy associated plasma protein-A, a widely used parameter for trisomy 21 risk assessment. His present research deals with human embryo implantation and he has developed an in-vitro model using primary cultures of human cytotrophoblastic cells to mimic the behaviour of the trophectodermal cells of the blastocyst. He is the author of 176 original articles, 9 reviews, 2 books and 29 textbook chapters. |
